Aranya
An Exclusive Saree Collection
The chirrupings of a bird is heard, ‘cuhooing’ from a distance. A misty aura all around. An ethereal feeling fills her heart. It’s the break of dawn calling for a break from the concrete - concrete jungle. A trail is waiting to be walked upon, again. What is this nostalgic feeling? It is time for homecoming. Time to go back to where she belongs - ‘Aranya’ - The Forest! Clad in her beautiful attire and her wild locks, she treads the path into the natural flora. In no time, she emanates the same transcendental scent and vibe as of the forest. They become one. She is ‘Aranya’.
Ela // God’s own art
A vow was taken, a god was awaken. For forests are nothing short of God’s own art - it’s preservation should be your oath. These towering buildings of social systems don’t sate your soul, don’t fill your void - don’t provide. Only a forest does. It is the sterling promise of providing care and reverence that the ‘Aranya’ is founded on and it must be kept. Let’s keep the ‘Ela’ - God’s own oath.
Ela is a natural-dyed and hand woven silk-satin sari woven by @royal.brocade. Pareshbhai of Royal Brocade comes from a traditional Ashawali weaver family. At his weaving unit in Ridrol, Gandhinagar he creates elaborately detailed one-of-a- kind Ashavali brocade saris, keeping alive the long lost tradition.
We created a small batch of plain silk- satin saris with royal brocades that features unique embroidery artworks created by our skilled artisans in Kutch.
Moh // The undying attachment
Of all that a forest is composed of - is undying attachment. Attachment it has for you and you for it. It calls out for you, can you hear it? The forests are alluring. Beauty undeniable.
‘Aranya’s’ endearment is real and felt - It is the ‘Moh’ that brings all the purpose
Moh is a natural-dyed and hand woven silk-satin sari woven at Royal Brocade.
Pareshbhai of Royal Brocade is a big- time advocate of natural dyeing and he is slowly shifting to 100% natural dyes for his saris. We created a small batch of plain silk-satin saris with royal brocades that features unique embroidery artworks created by our skilled artisans in Kutch.
Hiya // the heart
The heart is the core of existence. The heart of ‘Aranya’ is deep under its pious soil which is the very same foundation that deep roots penetrate into, grow on, stay put. ‘Hiya’ - the heart, lies in the warmth that the forest provides. It is the home that keeps so many, the love that brings everyone back! ‘Aranya’ is nothing without its ‘Hiya’.
Hiya is a deep red coloured cotton-silk sari handwoven in Maheshwar. The sari features a rich embroidered pallu that has a mix of stitches found in traditional kutchi embroidery.
In our workshops with the artisans we created a vocabulary of stitches that are being used in different embroidery styles. This stitch library becomes our palette, the red sari is our canvas and we paint with stitches. This is Hiya- our art, made from the heart.
Taarini // She who frees
Trapped are those who were never lost! In a life full of rules and regulations, one just simply cannot free oneself if one doesn’t run into the laps of nature, every now and then.
‘Aranya’ reconnects you with your true self. The gentle breeze and the natural order of the Woods, rekindles your sense of freedom, of awe, of unlearning to relearn. The woods become your ‘Taarini’ - provider of freedom!
Taarini is a black cotton-silk sari handwoven in Maheshwar. The sari features engineered embroidery artwork in the pallu that stretch from one arm to another and the dense embroidery gathers perfectly over the elbow when you drape the sari. The embroidery placement in the pallu of this sari breaks the rules of traditional sari design and makes path for the new ideas.
Timira // The night
The beauty of night is unexplainable. Stars seek in glimpses through tree breaks, a faint, yet soothing moonlight seeps through the canopies, a mystic aura surrounds.
The ‘Aranya’ seems to tell a different story at night. A foggy little path, owls hooting from the branches. The beauty of the blackness is only enlarged on by the mystery and the pathfinding twinklers. This is ‘Timira’.
Timira is a black yarn-dyed cotton-silk sari, handwoven in Maheshwar. Each sari has unique free-flowing lines which are first hand-drawn and then embroidered over by our trained artisans in Kutch. The Sari border has dense chain-stitch embroidery waves in our signature style.
Keeping the embroidery in the sari minimal with one-side border, we have paired it with heavy chain-stitch embroidered blouse.
