O dear Cloud,
take my message to my beloved,
as i am forlorn in this wretched scene.
En route, you will travel across many a mountain, plains, lakes, and streams leading to my dearest dream.”

-Kalidasa

Presented by The Registry of Sarees, this exhibition celebrates the evolution of Indian textiles and traditions through the poetic metaphor of a cloud’s journey. Like a cloud adapting to changing skies, both individuals and textiles navigate shifting environments. The exhibition, inspired by Meghdootam, offers a multi-sensory experience that reflects the landscapes of Western India and mirrors the emotions of lovers yearning for reunion. Among the featured works is our contribution, where we continue to explore new perspectives within the world of textile art.

This exhibition was part of Warp and Weft, a pioneering initiative launched by The Registry of Sarees to honor the diverse spectrum of textile artistry celebrating the traditional Indian ethos of handspun, handwoven, and handcrafted textiles, while embracing their interdisciplinary evolution.

As textiles transcend their functional origins, they now encompass the realms of art, science, and technology. Through this platform, The Registry of Sarees aims to foster a vibrant community of researchers, practitioners, and enthusiasts dedicated to the exploration of South Asian textiles.
